Outdoor activity mix in Bulgaria
With it’s wild nature, beautifull high mountains, large forest areas, big number of artificial and natural lakes, and lush rivers, Bulgaria can offer to it’s guests all kind of outdoor activities. The tourists can enjoy here a different in dificulty and longtitude hikes; try some real speleology in the caves; float with a kayak, kanoe or a simple boat on the calm waters of thr lakes and dams; expirience a real rafting adventure in the lush rivers; ride a horse trough the green meadows and forests….
And why not take all those magnifficent adventures, combine them with the secrets of the traditional culture and cuisine of Bulgaria and accomplish them in a one week vacation. Sure it will be splendid new expirience and a fun time….
Day 1. Arrive at Sofia airport. Meeting with your tour guide. Departure to the town of Smolyan, situated deep in the dense forests of the Rodopi mountains. On the way we will visit the medieval Bachkovo monastery. Accommodation in a hotel in Smolyan. Short briefing about the tour. Dinner and overnight
Day 2. Breakfast. Short (20 min.) transfer to the magnificent “Canyon of the waterfalls”, hidden deep in the mountains. Here we will take a lite hike (3.30 h.) for aclimatization. Lunch – picnic. In the afternoon we will be transfered (1 h.) to the village of Shiroka Luka – an amazing, perfectly preserved architectural reserve. Accommodation in a nice family hotel. Traditional dinner and overnight.
Day 3. After breakfast – a short (30 min.) transfer to the village of Gela – one of the very high situated settlements in the Rodopi mountain. From here we will hike trough some beautiful pine forests to the village of Trigrad, situated between vertical rocks faces and kept it’s old days traditions alive. Lunch will be a picnic. Accommodation in a nice family hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4. Breakfast. Visitation of the nearby Trigrad gorge and the “Devil’s troath” cave. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. Afternoon we will be able to enjoy some horseriding in the green medows in the area. Visit of the “Yagodina” cave. Later a short (45 min.) transfer will take us to the town of Devin. Visit of the rock phenomena “The elephant”. Accommodation in a hotel + traditional meal dinner.
Day 5. After breakfast it’s time for a mountain bike adventure (3 h.). Lunch in a restaurant. Next we will take a boat or a water wheel for a cruise trough the nearby mountain dam. After that we can make a nice, relaxing swim in one of the Devin mineral springs and pool. Accommodation will be in the same hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6. Breakfast. Transfer (2 h) to the “Beglik” high mountain dam. Here we will make accomodation in a beautifully settled hotel. Lunch in the hotel’s restaurant. It is a day for relaxation and leisure. The area is magnificent – perfect for walks, mountain bike or just sun baths. Free time. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.
Day 7. Breakfast. It is a day for kayaking. A professional instructor will make a lesson for us and will be teaching everyone kayaking in the calm waters of “Beglika” dam. Lunch will be in the hotel restaurant. The afternoon is time for more kayak practice or just for leisure. Same accommodation and dinner. Overnight.
Day 8. Breakfast. Departure back to Sofia. On the way to the capital city, we will have lunch in a traditional restaurant and a visit the historical town of Batak. Transfer to Sofia airport. Goodbye.
